I have several years experience in working with children and young people in various roles from working as a nanny to residential social worker

I have worked for Next Step Care Management since 2006/7.  I began working for Next Step as an agency worker working with young people who were receiving 24/7 support.  Over time I progressed from an outreach worker to employed worker, my role was a Care Co-ordinator ensuring that young people’s visits were planned and met by staff and all meetings had someone attending.

I was promoted to Deputy Manager and responsible for organising the teams of staff and ensuring placements were staffed with staff qualified to the relevant level.  This involved interviewing them, organising shadow shifts and inducting them.  When the Area grew NSCM needed another office and I became the Manager in the Birmingham Office.

I am now an Area Manager for the Midlands and the South and run 3 teams of staff with up to 12 workers on each team.  I am responsible for all areas of the day to day running along with looking at and responding to referrals, dealing with properties, supervising and planning the staff teams.

I pride myself on our staff teams being able to offer consistent staffing with staff trained to a good standard both educationally and with experience.  I am responsible for organising and implementing training of the staff teams.  I am a very “hands on “ manager and believe in leading by example, and all young people have my contact number if they need to talk to me.

I enjoy the challenge of my job and do my best to ensure that everything runs smoothly and young people get the support they need.

I work as part of a staff team who have a lot of experience in working with young people who are at risk of sexual exploitation. As a team we work with young people to try and educate them by looking at ways to help them regain control of their own lives including signposting to specialist teams where appropriate and available

I am the trained Mother and Baby worker and oversee all Mother and Baby placements in our area, and ensure the staff are following the plans set by the Social Workers.
